CU Boulder New Opera Workshop (CU NOW), 2012

Ludlow is the story of immigrant workers and the brutal treatment they received at the hands of the U.S. government during the 1914 coal mining wars. To protest barbaric working conditions, scores of miners went on strike and erected a tent colony in Ludlow, Colorado. The colony was burned by the Colorado National Guard and more than a dozen people, mostly innocent women and children, perished in the “Ludlow Massacre.”
